Monday Made It: Classroom Clocks

My classroom library guest post is up on Really Good Stuff today. It's the first in the Teaching Bootcamp 2012 series. After checking out all the cute Monday Made It projects, I'd love it if you headed on over to show your support there too. By leaving a comment there, you're automatically entered to win their weekly giveaway too. =)

This project is a perfect example of one of the typical late-night inspirations that seem to hit me in the summer. I've become somewhat obsessed with switching all of our classroom items over to match my new, bright color scheme. I saw clock signs on Pinterest (but didn't save the pin because the clocks themselves were boring, oops) to mark times for lunch, recess, specials, etc. The clocks looked like foam ones you'd find at the dollar store or dollar spot at Target. I knew I could make cuter clocks than that though so I got to work. Of course, like most projects, it ended up being slightly more involved than I intended in the beginning. Nevertheless... how cute are these?!

I used my new best friend the Silhouette Cameo to cut out the labels. I plan to laminate them for durability once I get back to school.

Then I'm going to hang them on our closet doors. The wood there is kind of boring so I think these bright clocks will make the doors more cheerful. I also like that they're teachable moments because my students are always asking what time X is. I've previously had a poster up with the times, but the visuals here (analog and digital, woo-hoo!) should really help. I'm also planning to laminate copies for students to keep in their math folders for extra practice. I see clock centers in our future too. =)

I used colored fasteners/brads from Hobby Lobby, bright paper from Walmart, and then created the images myself. If you don't want to spend time cussing over lovingly creating your own templates, I put a copy of mine in my TpT store. I also added printable labels and numbers (in bright colors and primary too) because I know we don't all have the darling Cameo cutter.
Now go check out all the other cute posts over at Monday Made It and don't forget to swing by my Really Good Stuff guest post too. Thanks so much!
