Just look at the difference! My husband had a set of these old, dirty filing cabinets in a dingy khaki color. Gross. I banished the worst one to the garage, that's how ugly they were. But with a little spray paint, they look brand new and great in my new office. There really isn't much to this little project.
Step One: Clean old, ugly filing cabinet with Simple Green.
Step Two: Prime filing cabinet with two coats of spray paint primer. (forgot to take a picture of this part... it was freezing in the garage!)
Step Three:Two coats of spray paint in a color of your choice. I popped the handles off this one and did them separately for a more even coat.
If painting isn't your thing, here's a link to the filing cabinet I covered with contact paper at school. It would look pretty papered *and* painted. Hmm... =)
I'm loving the new office and feel so much more productive already. Next time I'll show you the whole thing. In case you missed it, here's a link to my second DIY tutorial: chalkboard memo board.
