As you can see, I'm enjoying a Friday night at home. I just got out of a loooong bubble bath where I thoroughly rocked out to Miranda Lambert. {Love that girl!} She always brings out the weekend mood in me. And she's a total animal lover. Bonus points for that!
Although it's the weekend, I'm still in a little bit of school mode. We're gearing up for state tests in March and I just want to cry over the whole thing. We have a pass/fail reading test students must pass in order to go on to fourth grade. I worry about some of my kiddos so much! We're getting creative with test prep this year though, so more on that later.
As for my pet peeves. Ugh! I can't stand laziness and excuses. Why is it almost every student can remember to dress up for sports day and bring ice cream money on certain Fridays, but not remember to study for a test or turn in limited homework? I don't get it. Or throw trash on our floor? Honestly! Do they do that in their houses? I sure hope not.
And why am I the *only* one who can see the trash on the floor when it's time to clean up at the end of the day? It's not always trash either. Sometimes it's those elusive pencils we never seem to find during the day when they're needed, but at the end of the day they're having a school supply party on the floor with the scissors and glue and oddball crayons? Why??
Fortunately those moments are in the minority. I'm still allowed to have a few pet peeves though, right? =) What are some of yours? Hurry and link up with us!

Oh, and don't forget to leave feedback for all of your TpT purchases to get your credits that you can use during this weekend's big sale. Then come back here tomorrow for the scoop on my own twist to Sunday's SUPER SALE! =)

I wish you would send some of that snow here! I'm starting to think we won't get a single snow day...
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one with the trash problem. My kids seem to be oblivious to it to most of the time! :)

Perspective is funny: I would like a little snow, but I think we are done.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
I think all kids have trash on the floor blindness. I sometimes use the Teacher Tipster trick of telling them there is a piece of magic garbage on the floor - then they clean like crazy for weeks hoping for more magic garbage - it is worth it to award the magic garbage picker upper with a small prize!
ReplyDeleteLookingFromThirdtoFourth
YES! I always say I have my eye on a secret piece and whoever picks it up wins an extra star student punch. The floor ends up spotless. I just wish I didn't have to resort to teacher tricks. ;)
DeleteI was going to say the same thing! We play "Magic Trash" every day, and I "choose" 2-3 pieces that are magic trash (can include pencils, etc!), and the winners get to choose a Smelly! It bugs me that they won't just pick up the floor without bribery, but what can ya do?!
DeleteI must say, Christi, when people won't EVER take responsibility for their mistakes? I CAN. NOT. STAND. IT. It bugs me with the kiddos, but when adults are that way, I seriously have to restrain myself from slapping them. LOL.
Send us some snow! It is just cold here.

Can't wait to see what you have in store for the TPT sale!
ReplyDeleteI agree we could all use some more time in the day. Preferably from 7-10pm if it could just freeze it would be great.
Enjoy your weekend!

Wow, we haven't gotten but a dusting of snow this year and usually we have lots of snow days off. Of course winter isn't over yet, but... Hope it stops for you soon!

I am soooooo with you on the time flying away and yet I need to do soooooo much before testing! Eeeeeeeeeeeek!! Our students in 4th have to pass EVERYTHING- Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies in order to be promoted to 5th. It's so stressful!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't stand all the trash on the floor- and you're right, it's pencils, paper, glue sticks, markers...they act like they can't see them!! (every time I read someone's pet peeves I think I need to add more to mine!!)
:O)

ReplyDeleteThe magic trash has been a great thing in our room! I always choose someone who has been extra good or made an extra effort that day (not that the kiddos know that!) I am also in Indiana (graduated from ISU) and I am enjoying the snow. We have had so little this year.

Second Grade is Out of This World!
Our third grade reading test is the same, but we have until April. There is something about this time of the year. We should have our diagnostic results back in the next couple of weeks. It certainly keeps us on our toes!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the school supply party! How does that happen?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Disappearing supplies are the WORST! I also hate missing work, like right after we do it, missing work! I hate test stress as well! I think it is ridiculous that they hang an entire year's worth of learning on a test. It is like that in Texas too. I would love to teach fourth, but I stay in second because we don't test!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I found your adorable blog through Currently.
